Types of Haircuts
"To put it quite simply
there are 4 basic types of haircuts out there, everything else is a combination
of those 4.
First one is a zero degree or blunt haircut. Basically as a hair stylist you
have to think about the head and then you have to think about the hair coming
out of the head and how the hair wants to be laid on the head. So zero degree or
blunt means you cut at a zero degree from the head so that means that the hair
will be a blunt cut, so that would be just a long hair style all one
linked.
The next type of haircut would be a 90 degree haircut. This haircut as you might
be able to guess will be taking the hair and pulling it 90 degrees from the head
and cutting that, making it uniform all the way around. That would usually be a
men's haircut.
Third type of haircut is a 45 degree haircut which is a graduated haircut.
Basically we take the hair 45 degrees from the head and cut it. And as it lays
down it would kind of stack itself. What we need to think about when we cut a 45
degree haircuts is you can make it a high elevation 45 degree where the stack
will happen higher and fall down to a lower blunt cut or you can cut it in low
elevation where the stack will be lower .
forth type of haircut would be 180 which is pretty popular right now in
different styles, but 180 degree is taking the hair a 180 degree from the head
pulling it straight up cutting it and dropping it and what that does is it
creates layers.
There are different ways of course to perform all of those haircuts, but those
are 4 basic haircuts to give you kind of an understanding of how things work and
how haircutting work."
